Sri Janardhana Swamy Temple
Honnudike is at a distance of 15kms from Tumkur. Sri Janardhana Swamy Temple was built around 12th century AD. The temple in Chola style of architecture, is under the control of Muzrai Department. The temple was in dilapidated condition due to growth of vegetation over the roof. Since 80 years the committee was trying to restore the temple but it was unsuccessful. Front portion of the temple was encroached by the local people and built their residential houses. The village was named as “Ponnudike” in 650 AD during the period of Gangarasa. The restoration of the temple took up during 2012-13. During the restoration work all the stone members were dismantled, cleaned, damaged/missed stones were replaced with new stones.
