Sri Mutteshwara Temple

Hombuja is situated about 30kms from Thirthahally town. Sri Mutteshwara Temple was built by Agasthya muni around 10th-11th century AD. The temple is near the lake muthinakere. The temple was in total dilapidated condition, with the existence of only garbhagriha. During the restoration work all the stone members were dismantled, cleaned and re-built after strengthening the Adhistana. Stone mantapa in front was newly built. Suitable shikara was built over garbhagriha. New stone slabs were laid for flooring inside and outside of the temple and prakara was built around the temple for protection. The restoration of the temple took up during 2012-13. After restoration work, the daily pooja is being performed in the temple.
