Sri Umamaheshwara Temple.
Chengaru village is at a distance of 25kms from Thirthahally and 7kms from Thirthahally-Agumbe highway. Sri Umamaheshwara Temple was in total dilapidated condition, with the structural existence of only garbhagriha and adhisthana. Sri Umamaheshwara Temple in near the Kundadri hills was built around 500 years ago. The restoration of the temple took up during 2012-13. During the restoration work all the stone members were dismantled, cleaned, old stones were replaced with new stones and re-built after strengthening the Adhistana. Suitable Shikara was built over garbhagriha. New stone slabs were laid for flooring inside and outside pradakshinapatha of the temple. After restoration work, the daily pooja is being performed in the temple.
