Sri Mallikarjuna Temple

 Thogarsi village is about 10kms from Shiralakoppa town. Sri Mallikarjuna Temple at Thogarsi was built in 12th century AD and is in Chalukyan style of architecture. This temple was once restored earlier. During ruling of Keladi Nayaka’s kingdom i.e. 16th century AD the mukhahamantapa was built of wood has beautifully carved pillars and exquisitely carved panels were added. During the restoration work all the outer wall were dismantled, new stone walls were put and re-built after strengthening the Adhistana. Suitable shikara over garbhagriha was built in ancient style. In front of the temple separate Rajagopura was built. The restoration of the temple took up during 2007-08. After the restoration work, daily pooja is being performed in this temple.
