Sri Someshwara Temple

Mathighatta village is situated at a distance of 8kms from Shravanabelagola. Sri Someshwara Temple dated back to 10th century AD and belonged to Hoysala period. This temple was in dilapidated condition due to growth of wild vegetation. The entire temple structure was dismantled and re-built in the original form. Kalyani, adjacent to the temple, was also strengthened. The prakara around the temple was built. The platform for the Dwajastamba was also strengthened. The restoration work of the temple was carried out during 2006-08. Daily pooja is being performed in this temple.
