The village Malali is at a distance of about 3kms from Sakaleshapura town. Sri Malleshwaraswamy Temple was built during 10th-11th century AD by 2nd Ballal of Hoysala dynasty and is in the architectural style of era Hoysala dynasty. The temple stands as a witness to the prominence of Malali village in Hoysala’s rule. Almost all stones of the temple had fallen down and submerged in the earth leaving only garbhagriha. During restoration work the temple was completely dismantled, new stone mantapa was built and foundation was strengthened. Prakara was constructed around the temple for protection. Suitable shikara over garbhagriha was built. The restoration work of the temple was carried out during 2006-07. Daily pooja is being performed in this temple.
