Sri Pataleshwara Temple

Sri Pataleshwara Temple situated at Belur town of Hassan District was built during 12th-13th century AD. The temple is in Hoysala style of architecture. Half of the temple was submerged at about 7 feet below the ground level. This temple is having beautiful architectural features. This temple consists of Garbhagriha and sukhanasi only. After complete dismantling the existing structure, the floor level is lifted to the extent of about 7 feet creating a strong platform. The existing stone members were chemically cleaned and added with new stone members in place of damaged/broken. The restoration of the temple started in 2013-14.
