Sri Kalmeshwara Temple

Biruvalli village is at a distance of 15kms from Kalaghatagi town. Sri Kalmeshwara Temple was built during 11th-12th century AD in the architectural style of Chalukyan dynasty. The temple was almost covered with earth except the entrance. But inside the temple beautiful stone members with carvings were there. The coverage of soil over the temple was removed, structure was dismantled, stones were cleaned and re-built after strengthening the adhisthana. The stone pillars were of Rashtrakuta period. The restoration of the temple was carried out during 2006-09. After the restoration work, daily pooja is now being performed in this temple.
