Sri Laxminarayana Temple

Tagadur village is about 15kms from Nanjangud town. Sri Laxminarayanaswamy Temple is a huge structure with a tall entrance mantapa. It appears that the temple was built during 16th century AD. The temple has a Garbhagriha, an Ardhamantapa and two Navaranga, all in Hoysala style. The outer portion of the temple is a later addition of Vijayanagara times. To the east of the main entrance, a Kalyana mantapa was built in Vijayanagara style. Most of the outer wall stones were submerged in the earth. The restoration of the temple took place during 1996-98. During restoration the temple structure was totally dismantled, stones were cleaned, new stone members were substituted in place of broken/damaged stones and reconstructed after strengthening the adhisthana. After the restoration work, daily pooja is being performed in this temple.
