Sri Malleshwara Temple
Machalaghatta village is at a distance of 2kms from Nagamangala-Mysore road, and 12kms from Nagamangala town. The village has a fine Hoysala temple dedicated to Shiva, datable to 11th-12th century. It is an Ekakuta temple built of soapstone. It has beautiful Bhuvaneshwaris not only in Navaranga, but also in the Garbhagriha and even portico. Even the empty spaces in the Navaranga are exquisitely carved. The temple was in total dilapidated condition. During the restoration work the structure was dismantled, stone members were cleaned; new stone members were substituted in place of broken/damaged. Prakara was built for protection around the temple. The restoration work of the temple took place during 2007-08. Daily pooja is now being performed in this temple.
